The major benefits of the Umbraco CMS are found in the easy-to-use templates provided for most of the regular tasks being performed by content managers. Page creation, content additions, media access, and macro integrations are all readily completed with just a few intuitive clicks. The CMS is organized with “collections”, each containing different templates or elements for use on the site. A key point for content managers to remember is that the features, tiles, and images should be created in their respective collection before including them as content on the site. The objects can then easily be referenced from the content addition tool.
Detailed instructions and illustrations of each process involved in the management of the new DOA.la.gov site are provided in the following pages. This document will be revised as needed to provide further details in any common problem areas, or to expand on specific features as they are added or improved on the site. Contact information for technical assistance is provided on the last page of the document.
